A thank you for Alberta's volunteers

As we mark National Volunteer Week, I am once again reminded of the tremendous gifts offered by our amazing volunteers, every day and in every corner of our province. Volunteers play an essential role in keeping our communities vibrant, strong and healthy. They generously share their time, creativity and leadership because it’s the right thing to do and because they want the best for their neighbours and for us all.

The current challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have only served to highlight the wonderful volunteer spirit that thrives across Alberta. It reminds us that we all have the power to make a difference and to lift up those who need a helping hand.

As Her Majesty the Queen’s representative in Alberta, it’s my pleasure to recognize all of our hardworking volunteers. Your efforts may cover a wide range of programs and initiatives, but you are united by a common heart for service that shines through in everything you do. Thank you for your commitment to giving back and keep up the great work!

Her Honour, the Honourable Lois E. Mitchell, CM, AOE, LLD, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta
