Queen’s Citizenship Medal ceremony celebrates youth volunteers

Media are invited to attend a Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Citizenship Medal ceremony hosted by Her Honour, the Honourable Lois Mitchell. The Edmonton ceremony will recognize the exemplary service and citizenship of young Alberta leaders.

Medal recipients:

  • Sandon Law from Calgary (attended Earnest Manning High)
  • Jianna Marin from Lloydminster (attended Lloydminster Comprehensive High School)
  • Marissa Nahirney from Calgary (attended St. Francis High School)
  • Rohan Nuttall from Edmonton (attended Strathcona Composite High School)
  • Thomas Pomerleau from Beaumont (attended Maurice Lavallee School in Edmonton, can be interviewed in French)
  • Anna-Marie Robertson from Edmonton (attended Victoria School)

A group photo and interviews with the Lieutenant Governor and recipients will be available immediately following the ceremony. Interviews with recipients may also be arranged prior to the ceremony. Public attendance at the event is by invitation only due to limited seating.

The Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Citizenship Medal recognizes outstanding community service and volunteerism. Recipients are chosen from among the high school students from across Alberta selected to receive the Premier’s Citizenship Award. Award details are at
