Installation of Lieutenant Governor-Designate Lois Mitchell

Lois Mitchell, CM will be installed as the 18th Lieutenant Governor of Alberta on Friday, June 12, 2015. The installation ceremony will take place in Edmonton at the Legislature Building. The proceedings inside the Chamber will be streamed live at beginning at 11 a.m. Photos will be available on flickr (LegAssemblyofAb) the same day.

All accredited media are invited to attend the installation ceremony. A brief media availability with the new Lieutenant Governor will be held on the steps of the Legislature immediately following the outdoor closing ceremony portion of the event. Media planning to broadcast on-site must register in advance. Mobile units and satellite trucks will be accommodated north of the pools and should be in place by 7a.m. on June 12.

Those who are not members of the Alberta Legislature press gallery must check in at the Legislature loading dock security desk to pick up media identification cards. Government-issued photo ID and proper media employee accreditation will be required. Business cards will not be accepted.

Press passes for the Chamber will be available between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on June 12 from the office of the Sergeant-at-Arms, located in room 412 of the Legislature Building.

Please note that media must arrive outside the main Chamber doors by 10:30 a.m. in order to gain access to the Chamber. While in the Chamber media must wear business attire, which includes a tie and jacket. Media wearing jeans or sneakers will not be permitted entry. Video and photography are allowed, but flash photography is not.
