Lieutenant Governor hosts Diamond Jubilee Garden Party on June 2

Members of the public are invited to join His Honour, Col. (Ret’d) the Honourable Donald S. Ethell for a grand afternoon of free family entertainment and activities at a Diamond Jubilee Garden Party to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 60-year reign.

The Diamond Jubilee Garden Party takes place on the grounds of the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton on Saturday, June 2 from 1 - 4 p.m.

“This party is an opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years of outstanding service to our nation and to honour the important role Her Majesty has played in the lives of all Canadians,” said Lieutenant Governor Ethell. “I encourage everyone to come out and join us for what I know will be a great afternoon of family fun.”

The event will feature performances by local artists Asani, Sean Sonego, the NEK Trio, The Doll Sisters and Kayla Patrick.  A musical ride by the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) Ceremonial Mounted Troop and performances by the Royal Canadian Artillery Band will also occur, weather permitting.

Visitors will have opportunities to meet the Lieutenant Governor and take a monarchy-themed tour of the Legislature Building. Children will have a chance to make “fascinators” or crowns to commemorate their visit.

Light refreshments, including lemon iced tea and ice cream, will be served at no cost to visitors.
