Lieutenant Governor hosts Diamond Jubilee Garden Party on July 21

Members of the public are invited to join His Honour Col. (Ret’d) the Honourable Donald S. Ethell for a grand afternoon of free family entertainment and activities at a Diamond Jubilee Garden Party to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 60-year reign.

The Diamond Jubilee Garden Party takes place at McDougall Centre (455 - 6th Street SW) in Calgary on Saturday, July 21 from 1 - 4 p.m.

“This garden party is an opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years of outstanding service to our nation and to honour the important role Her Majesty has played in the lives of Canadians,” said Lieutenant Governor Ethell. “I encourage everyone to join us for what I know will be a great afternoon of family fun.” Visitors will have opportunities to meet the Lieutenant Governor during his walkabout.

The afternoon will feature performances by the Royal Canadian Artillery Band jazz ensemble as well as local artists Anita Athavale, Chris Gheran and Samantha Savage Smith.

Children can enjoy balloons and storytelling by TALES and also try their hand at making fascinators or crowns to commemorate the occasion.

Light refreshments, including iced tea, ice cream and cookies, will be served at no cost to visitors.
